The place of e-portfolios in Scottish Education
An e-portfolio can be described as an online learning log into which a pupil can add information they wish to record about themselves which highlights the way they are progressing through their school career.
The only people who can view a child's e-portfolio are themselves and their class teachers and classroom assistants and only within the secure glow portal. Teachers encourage their pupils to update their e-portfolios using the Latest Posts option and will read the posts relevant to the subject they teach and may add comments as and when necessary.
There are two themes used by Fife schools. one for primary and one for secondary and each brings with it a set of categories which allows each entry to the four key pages such as Latest Posts to be tagged to a curricular area and to the four capacities of the curriculum for excellence, although other tags and categories may be added.
