Considering how well both primary and secondary teachers use ICT as a delivery medium in geography, history and modern studies contexts it may be surprising to find that the CfE outcomes and experiences have no explicit references to ICT.

However the statements are sufficiently open-ended to allow ICT to contribute as and when appropriate particulary in support of statements mentioning '... gather and use information ...' and '... present supported conclusions..'.

The section on 'what will learning in social studies enable children and young people to do?' offers scope:

In the section 'what learning and teaching approaches can I use in social studies?' we are told:

ICT could also be incorporated into the "use of relevant contexts and experiences familiar to children and young people" and "both collaborative and independent learning".
