Winter Stories 2010/11

Fife school pupils are encouraged to participate in the Writing Stories area that run from time to time in the Digtial Kingdom pages in glow.

In the winter of 2010/11 we ran a Winter Stories competition which had almost 50 entries.

This winter of 2011 will be asking pupils to choose one of the 8 key story starts (below), write their story and upload it to the Key Ingredients Story Writing Club in the Digital Kingdom site.

Invitation to pupils - Upload your story to glow

This isn’t a competition, as we’d like to read a wide variety of stories whatever age you are. Keep looking at each others’ work to see what other budding authors come up with.

  • As we listened to the rumble of the traffic overhead, we wondered how long we would have to remain in hiding like this.

  • Without warning, the fishing boat lurched down the slipway into the icy water.

  • Running for our lives, we scrambled across the jagged rocks.

  • We were heartbroken at having to leave the city behind, and were anxious about the journey which lay ahead of us.

  • Gazing down from the hot air balloon, we held our breaths for a moment.

  • The old diary had been in the attic of the house for years. Nobody had read it for years.

  • The wind howled across the heather, as we set up camp for the night.

  • “What do you think it is?” he exclaimed, looking at the strange markings on the moon’s surface.
