Web Filtering

A growing number of websites are hosting large collection of media clips which puts pressure on the council network owing to the number of users per school and the large file sizes involved.

If the files are stored as Flash or Quick Time or Windows Media Player they might be cleared through Web Filtering. At present, media - audio and video - using BBC iplayer or You Tube can only be viewed by teachers using their own login as the file size tends to be rather large and the teacher has to decide onthe suitability of the content. The ITV network and other broadcasters also have their equivilant file format.

Therefore, teachers may show such clips as part of a whole class lesson in line with the Fife Education web filter and Internet Acceptable Use policies.
