Using still images taken by a digital camera or creating a movie clip, however short, places a great demand on storage space.
Still and moving image file sizes and formats will be explained in the pages in this section.
It is important to all users to know how to save their still and moving image files in a format which retains quality but is small enough:
- to conserve server space
- to be opened quickly wherever it is stored
- to be uploaded to an external site quickly (for example a video or animation posted on Radiowaves)
NB As digital still and movie files grow in popularity and the curriculum for excellence offers greater scope for such work then there is a pressing need for school staff to make sure their files are saved using the advice offered in the pages in this section. If the files aren't reduced in size then space on the school server will be restricted to a few, very large files and it will take much longer to open and view the file at a later date.
