Web Filtering
A growing number of websites are hosting large collection of media clips which put pressure on the council network owing to the number of users per school and the large file sizes involved.
If the files are stored as Flash or Quick Time or Windows Media Player they might be cleared through Web Filtering but, at present, media - audio and video - using BBC iplayer cannot be downloaded at present as the file size tends to be rather large and there is no way of distinguishing educational content from the rest of the BBC output, including programmes broadcast after the nine o'clock watershed. The ITV network and other broadcasters also have their equivant file format.

- Schools wishing to use audio podcasts are recommended to use Radiowaves. Over 120 Fife schools have their own station at Radiowaves Fife FM.
