The curriculum for excellence states that there are three main lines of development in mathematics; namely:

  1. Information Handling
  2. Number, Money and Measurement
  3. Shape, Position and Movement

An overview is provided on the Maths CfE pages on the Learning and Teaching Scotland site with the outcomes available as an Adobe Acrobat file.

The Pupil Pages' Maths section has been set out with direct links to online activities under the three headings above.

Number, Money and Measurement has been further subdivided into:
Number Basics: add, subtract, mutiply, divide Number Processes: sequences, whole numbers, place value
Equations Fractions with decimals, percentages, ratio and proportion
Measurement and Estimation Money
Time with timetables

Sites offering a wider mathematics coverage are included in the title page in both the Pupil Pages and Teacher Topics and both a Problem Solving and general actitivites page have been added to the Pupil Pages.

LT Scotland have coordinated notes and activities to support Problem Solving.

Some sites have excellent collections of educational games such as Primary Games which many Fife schools have purchased or Education City - a subscription service which has activities for other curricular areas and not just for Maths.

Teachers are invited to suggest website additions to the relevant Pupil Page.

A significant number of the sites included in the Pupil Maths pages are the result of research undertaken by Sharon Logie, acting Depute Headteacher, McLean Primary, Dunfermline.
