Scientific inventions are either accepted
or cause great debate

This is a new category added to science by the Curriculum for Excellence (December 2008).
Teachers are asked to direct pupils to cover current news stories with a focus n science.
This could include fossil fuels, climate change, renewable energy, new health cures and reduction in the rain forest.
The new Fife Education Energy site (May 2009 on) hosts links to a number of debates on fossil fuels, climate change, greenhouse gases, wind farm location etc.
Heriot Watt University have launched a new, interactive website, Concrete2Cookers, with online activites and teachers' resources designed to cover how carbon emissions may be reduced.
