Take a look at Electocity from New Zealand. This site offers users the opportunity to create and manage their own city and make important decisions on energy and environmental management. It could combine technology with science (renewable energy).

Teachers register and use the password with their class but it is a long term project. There are fact sheets in Adobe Acrobat format available to download and print.
