Why was this work undertaken?
|
This was an integral part of learning and teaching for functional
writing at Level C. Children were asked to design a book cover using
software and scanned images. Other pupils designed their own leaflets
to advertise local amenities. Finally, a group of pupils were asked
to edit pieces of creative writing to incorporate images from various
software sources.

|
What was the impact on pupils' learning?
|
Children were able to increase their confidence in use of all forms of
computer hardware and software. The use of scanners to incorporate their
own pieces of artwork was particularly rewarding.

What was the impact on pupils' learning?
|
|
Both staff and pupils shared learning outcomes and discovered what
a two-way process this can be. Initial fears and reservations were
overcome and we are now left with a team of highly motivated staff
and pupils so much so that we have developed an ICT suite of 15
computers which we intend to extend to parents use in evening classes.

The IT suite setup allows us to display reference
material close to the computers and keep a record of pupil use.
