Searching and researcing involves the use of reference skills and the ability to pose questions of internet search engines. Pupils have to develop the ability to sift through the volume of information available from all forms of media including reference CD-ROMS and the vastness of the Internet.

The whole school networking of Fife schools with Internetaccess to all computers on the network, supported by a broadband connection to every educational establishment offers Fife pupils the potential to source information from websites everywhere. However, adherence to the Fife Education Internet Policy is mandatory and both e-mail and website access are filtered centrally and the computers protected by firewalled software.
