The Group has been investigating what senior management teams require in the way of training and have presented proposals to the Education ICT Strategy Group to run a series of training days in the 2002/2003 academic year. Plans are at an early stage the intention is to provide three days of training for school senior management team members with the overall aims being
 
  • To explore the benefits of ICT in learning and teaching by effective management demonstrated through the sharing of good practice.
  • To raise awareness of the potential of ICT in both the curricular and administrative areas of school life in order to make the most effective use of the school’s ICT resources and staff expertise
   
Day 1 Empowering ICT Managers with keynote speakers

6th November 2002

Rothes Halls

Aims

  • To raise awareness of issues of ICT management.
  • To raise awareness of ICT use for management and the effective implementation of learning and teaching.

The day will showcase good practice in Fife to cover all sectors of school ICT incorporating departmental, 5 – 14 Levels and SEN implementations. Displays manned by appropriate personnel with pupils in attendance on some displays.

   
Day 2 ICT In Management (One day each for West, Central and East) Dates to be announced

Aim

  • To raise attainment in the use of ICT in an administrative role.

The training Sessions are to be skills based. There will be a series of talks/workshops covering the use of ICT to fulfil a range of management tasks, e.g. pupil tracking, report writing, SQA, interpreting statistics, finances and e-mail.

   
Day 3 Management of ICT (One day each for West, Central and East) Dates to be announced

Aim

  • To raise awareness of the sustainability of ICT in terms of needs, resources and skills.

A series of talks/workshops to demonstrate good practice covering the management of ICT resources within schools including hardware, software, infrastructure, CPD, networks, programmes of study, policy, school development plans, how good is our school, monitoring and evaluating ICT.
