RHS staff are committed to our pupils having full and equal access to a broad balanced 5-14 curriculum which ensures coherence, continuity and progression. Every pupil in RHS has an Individual Education Programme (IEP) with targets in all curricular areas.
Technology has greatly expanded the possibilities for our pupils. Our pupils can communicate need; develop social relationships; take control of aspects of their life : all of which would be severely limited without modern technology.

Our Junior School pupils work within the Elaborated 5-14 Curriculum: care being taken to ensure articulation with National Guidelines.
PSD is a Curricular Area .
Within PSD there are 4 Attainment Outcomes.

Each of these AOs has 4 Strands.
Each Strand has 7 Steps.
Each Step has Attainment Targets that are the goals for that Step.
Programmes of Study suggest the context for realisation of targets.
Each piece of work is undertaken to allow our pupils to realise IEP Targets within a sound curricular framework. Development takes place through identification of the most appropriate pathway through the EC that allows successful attainment of targets. The same Learning Activity may accommodate different Strands and Steps for the individuals involved.

Teaching is highly structured to match the previous attainment and the preferred learning styles of each pupil.

A wide variety of technology is used: switches allow independent control of electrical devices. 'Big Macs' convey recorded information; computers give access to specially developed software such as Boardmaker that allows printouts of symbols for communication; digital cameras provide photographs for choice making activities and capture vital evidence of targets achieved.

Each element of our exhibit is captioned to explain the technology used and how it helps with the attainment of targets.
