Secondary Support for Learning
The Kurzweil software is proving to be an excellent, sophisticated application.

Why was this work undertaken?

This computer application was seen as providing more independence to severely dyslexic pupils who would otherwise need a reader/scribe.

How was it developed?

A complete system has been purchased for each secondary school and staff are now being trained in its use.

What was the impact on pupils' learning?

Pupils are able to scan in text of their choice and have it read to them without waiting for adult support. They are able to carry out study skills on the text using tools designed for dyslexic pupils.

What was the impact of teaching strategies?

Staff can prepare differentiated material that pupils are able to use more independently.
