Welcome to the fourth issue of this Newsletter which includes news on developments in ICT in Fife schools and provides information on national initiatives and advice on where teachers should seek additional curricular resources.
Last month saw the launch of Fife's 5-14 ICT Support Materials at the very successful Headteachers' conference held at the Rothes Halls, Glenrothes.
Over 40 exhibitors from primary, special and secondary schools demonstrated the quality and diversity in which ICT may be used by Fife school children. This newsletter contains information about every exhibit and introduces the 5-14 ICT support materials to other staff.
This was scheduled as the first of three days for headteachers and, because of its success, the ICT Strategy Group has tasked the organising group to plan to reinstate days 2 and 3 during 2003.

Whole school networking of nursery, primary and special schools is scheduled for completion during 2003 (page 2) and this infrastructure improvement together with enhanced internet access for all schools will ensure that ICT plays a prominent role in delivering the curriculum to all Fife's school population and ensures our schools are ready to take advantage of national broadband developments.

The Fife Education Service Plan gives a commitment to the continuing development of ICT in Fife schools in terms of networks, hardware, staff training and support. An ICT Development Plan is issued to schools each year. The 2003 plan is due to be released early in the spring term.
