| Filey,
Yorkshire |
The wide bay attracted
holiday makers in Victorian times and Filey grew into a large holiday
resort. The large buildings are mostly hotels and caravan and camping
sites (not visible) occupy the headlands either side of the town.
There is also a harbour which has a sailing club, pleasure boats
and a few fishing boats as the sea comes right into the shore at
high tide. The extensive sea wall protects Filey from the destructive
nature of the sea. A hang glider keeps in flight owing to the thermals
rising off the cliff top. |
