Tidal estuary at Padstow, N. Cornwall This estuary is typical of a ria coastline. The river Camel has a deep channel but a great area is exposed at low tide. The port at Padstow is closer to the sea and its harbours needs to be dredged to keep the channel clear. Sailing ships used to call here but now tourists fill the berths with their yachts and local people earn a living with boat trips and water sports, although there is sill a harbour for fishing boats.
