River Camel, near Padstow, Cornwall The river winds around sand banks and mud flats and a heron stalks its prey in the middle foreground. This view is typical of a ria coastline where the wide valley is flooded at high tide. If you have a SmartBoard look for a diagram of a ria in the Earth Sciences gallery.
