Cliff erosion at Charlestown, S. Cornwall The power of the sea is obvious in this image. The cliffs at Charlestown close up shows how the cliff is undercut by the action of the sea. The rock splits along weak points - the joints in this sedimentary rock and large chunks fall off to be eroded and washed away. The different colour is a good indication of the High Water Mark.
