Geography - The Rock Cycle

The cycle may be followed through route 1 and route 2, both starting with magma. Erosion takes over leading to deposition and the start of stage 3 - the change to metamorphic rocks. Then the erosion - deposition sequence takes over again. There are two copies of the file Rockcycle_hide opens up each of stages 1, 2 and 3 in sequence and the other file presents the complete cycle.

There is scope for cross curricular activity such as a study of mineral composition, melting point and crystallisation in Chemistry as described in the Teaching Able Pupils booklet by Fife Education.
