Main menu in the Novel version

The site hosts useful user guides on a

chapter by chapter basis that are included

in each Open Office title on this site.

This section covers each of the applications, comparing them to their Microsoft equivalent and describing any differences you need to know. It also highlights the 'extras' offered by Open Office and includes ways to use each application.

One point to note, Microsoft Office files can be opened in their Open Office equivalent.

All Fife Council services will use Novell's version of Open Office as it works effectively with our Novell network but it is also compatible with the Open Office.org that may be downloaded outside school for home use by staff and pupils.

Installation procedures will be added here in late October 2009 following a pilot in 5 Fife schools with the evaluation also available from this page.

It is worth looking at Scribus as an extra application to be used as a companion to Open Office as it offers desk top publishing which in Microsoft Office is delivered by Publisher (an addition to the basic Office package).

In Novell's version of Open Office the names in the main menu differ slightly.
