Steph Taylor, Strathaven Academy, South Lanarkshire has kindly provided three files for Higher Physics Homework Exercies - the exercises, the answers and a pupil tracking grid. The University of Nottingham have launched a very intersting website with video clips for Chemistry entitled Interactive Periodic Table. Douglas Racey, Waid Academy, has created a comprehensive set of interactive exercises for standard grade science. Even if you don't present this subject the files are worth viewing as many of them could suit other areas of the three sciences and could prove useful for the science outcomes in the new curriculum for excellence. |

There have been a number of submissions over the past few months which will be added this month. They include more Turning Point PowerPoint files (remember they can also be used without the voting systems) for Chemistry and Physics at many different levels. Other PowerPoint, Publisher (plus a pdf version) and Excel files are included. So here goes: Resources for Access 2 - Physics from Glenrothes High. Turning Point PowerPoints for Standard Grade Physics from St. Columba's High, Dunfermline. Higher Physics, brief notes on Topic 3 Radiation from Buckhaven High. A welcome contribution from outside Fife of Higher Chemistry PowerPoint files from St Saviour's High in Dundee. On the companion ICT in Education pages there is a growing collection of SMARTBoard files from a number of sources for Biology, Chemistry and Physics, including 5-14. |

Lots of Physics resources have been added this month, some 5 - 14 science, a few for Chemistry plus a set of recommended web links. A full colour Standard Grade Physics course with notes in pdf format from Martin Cunningham, Kirkcaldy High School. A collection of Standard Grade Physics revision notes in Word format (for A5 printing) from Douglas Sinclair, St. Andrew's High, Kirkcaldy an introduction to Standard Grade Physics by Bill Swiatek, Girvan Academy, South Ayrshire. Turning Point files for Standard Grade Physics from Fiona Lindsay, Madras College and another set from John Emeleus, Physics, Buckhaven High and two Higher Chemistry entries from St. Columba's HS, Dunfermline. A set of full colour pdf files for Science Levels A to F in the 5 - 14 section and for Physics - Intermediate 2 Scalers, Vectors and Velocity Time Graphs, plus Higher and Advanced Higher course notes and sets of calculations all from Martin Cunningham, PT, Kirkcaldy High, Fife. The first is a few web links worth visiting; Acids for S1 and S2, Natural Events through animations (requires Java), a massive collection of science links, an excellent website for Standard Grade Physic's Energy unit and fantastic, high quality videos from Harvard showing transport mechanisms in blood cells for AH Biology. In addition to the files added by Fife teachers the Turning Point website offers tutorials, quick start guides and, once you register (free!), a growing bank of Turning Point files from other sources. Finally, a simple online diagram maker – create online and print or take a screen shot. The tools are not obvious; especially moving and resizing so try the first four tools below the horizontal barrier on the tool side bar. |

Since Christmas a large number of files have been donated by science teachers across Fife with the welcome addition of contributions from other Scottish schools. Douglas Racey at Waid Academy has been busy producing a comprehensive set of Inspiration files for Standard Grade, Higher and Advanced Higher. These are worth downloading and will encourage other contributions. The Inspiration program was distributed by LT Scotland as a 40 licence pack to all Scottish seondary schools in May 2004. A companion website covering Inspiration is well worth a visit. Turning Point PowerPoint files for S1 and Higher Physics have been created by the staff at St. Columba's High, Dunfermline. The first update since before the summer concentrates on multiple choice exercises created in PowerPoint intended to be used with the Turning Point Voting System being used in Fife science departments. A set have been provided by Julie McIntyre, Waid Academy for S1/2 science classes and Douglas Racey has provided three Chemistry sets for Standard Grade, Intermediate 1 and Higher. Another set has been provided by Brendan Fox, St. Andrew's High, Kirkcaldy set for Standard Grade Biology. The latest SSERC Safety Net content has been added to the Safety section. (Please note this is restricted to the Fife intranet as we have a SSERC licence for this resource.) Visitors from other councils can go direct to the SSERC website and log in with their username and password. Tom Dickson, Fife's Science Development Officer, has been seeking new,
