Dress Code

As you are aware, we place great importance on our dress code and take every opportunity to make clear our expectations to everyone in our school community.  The vast majority of parents and pupils support our dress code although a few do not and I share the concern and frustration of some staff and parents who believe that both the standard of uniform worn and the number following our dress code can be further improved.

We remain committed to promoting our dress code and do check uniform in different ways throughout the session.  Recently, a check of coats and jackets was undertaken across S1 to S4 following an increasing concern about the number being worn with designer emblems and logos.

I fully understated that during this cold weather pupils need to wear a coat or a jacket to school, but equally this forms part of our uniform and so should be plain black or navy. This is clearly set out in our prospectus and the study planner issued to all pupils.

While we have no wish or intention to end up in conflict with a pupil or his/her family, we have made our expectations clear and seek your support with this matter.

It can be disappointing to say the least to be told by a pupil that the ‘bright red hoodie’ or the ‘Super Dry’ top is the only one owned by them.

It would help us all to maintain and further improve the standard of dress if in planning to purchase a jacket or coat for school in the future you take account of our dress code. The standard of uniform across the school will continue to be a reflection of the support we receive from parents.
