Finding sources of energy which can be used again and again is vital to keeping our factories and our homes working and is called renewable energy.
At present they are still more expensive per unit than fossil fuels but they will last longer than fossil fuels and are cleaner with less impact on the environment - but this is a useful debate.
Unlike non-renewable energy it doesn't have the negative impact on the environment as we cover in the Effects section.
This section looks at the major sources of renewable energy with links to information, animations, videos and activities.
