Mini Kickers Programme

HPS Fife - Good PracticeThe Mini Kickers Programme is a Scottish Football Association (SFA) course which aims to develop Nursery School children’s motor skills.

To kick start the programme, in-service training was arranged with parents, staff and coaches. Parents were encouraged to take part in the training, in order to share physical activity ideas and learn new activities from each other.

The programme was taken up by the following schools:

  • Auchtermuchty
  • Balmullo
  • Cannongate
  • Dunino
  • Falkland
  • Kingsbarns
  • Leuchars
  • Lundin Mill
  • Newburgh
  • Strathmiglo

Children, coaches and parents enjoyed the experience and we intend to put on the programme again next year.

Evaluation feedback suggested that parents being involved in the sessions gave them fresh ideas of ways to be active with their child away from nursery.

Also a demand from the parents not only to have a new block to start up in the nurseries after the holidays but also for a out of school club to be set up at various venues.
