As part of Fife Councils ongoing commitment to Equal Opportunities, Fife Councils Sports Development Widening Opportunities Officer in partnership with FRAE Fife and Sportscotland have complied a cultural awareness training session specifically for sports clubs.
The training has been offered to all sports clubs across Fife and will be extended to additional projects and leisure staff. The aim of the training is to raise awareness of issues related to equity & diversity, to raise awareness of racial inequalities, to challenge typical stereotypes and misconceptions surrounding Ethnic Minority communities, provide definitions of racial prejudice, discrimination and heighten awareness on being culturally sensitive, provide information on the law surrounding race equality and equip participants with knowledge to make their clubs more inclusive and accessible for people from Ethnic Minority communities.
The trainers have now been trained and the following dates & venues have been scheduled:
- Tuesday 4th September - Waid Academy , Anstruther, 6pm-8pm
- Saturday 29th September - Lomond Centre, Glenrothes, 10am-12pm
- Saturday 6th October - Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre, 12pm-2pm
- Thursday 25th October - Kirkcaldy High School , 7pm-9pm
- Wednesday 21st Nov - Elmwood College , Cupar, 6.30pm-8.30pm
- Sunday 2nd December - Carnegie Leisure Centre, 11am-1pm
