Girls, Mums and Grans from Glenrothes have been trying a variety of activities to boost their confidence and promote healthy lifestyles. A six-week programme was organised by the Active Schools team in Glenrothes, covering issues from self-esteem and healthy eating to virtual babies and personal safety. The group also had the chance to try their hand at belly dancing, cheerleading, yoga, jammin’ dancing and pilates.
The programme pulled together a number of partners from the local community including the Police, the Parental Development Worker and Family Workers from the Glenrothes Integrated Community Schools Team. The activities on offer appealed to the young women and adults alike. The aim was to foster a more positive attitude to physical activity and as well as strengthening the relationship between adult and child.
The sessions were so successful that a second block of sessions were delivered in the spring. For more information on the girls project please contact the Glenrothes Active Schools Team on 01592 583485.
