Crossgates Primary held their first
School Nutrition Action Group meeting on 12 th December 2005. Membership of SNAG is;
2 parents
3 Pupil Council reps
School Health Coordinator
School Nurse
Classroom Assistant
School Cook
Janitor
Headteacher
The group has already revamped the school tuck-shop, and with monies from a successful bid has bought a fridge to store healthy tuck shop items. Pupils can now buy small bags of fruit, cereal bars, packets of raisins, yoghurts and small individual cheeses.
Low calorie crisps are still on the tuck trolley, although it is hoped that as we provide even
more healthy choices, these will be phased out!
SNAG members are also compiling a Healthy Recipe Book and asking for contributions from parents, friends, and relatives. Recipes will have to be tried and tested by SNAG members, of course!
