
Good health promotion practice is already well established at Inverkeithing High School, this area has been a focus for development over recent years, with enthusiastic staff and student working groups leading the way. Being part of the Fife Pilot Accreditation Scheme has provided us with an opportunity to review existing practice and formalise the health promotion process.
Recent developments include:
- Dedicated health board near main entrance giving topical health information
- Health leaflet area in library
- Relaxation taster sessions for both staff and pupils
- Tai chi and dance classes for both staff and pupils
- Special events like Fruity Friday, No Smoking Day etc
- Health week to include special events like Fun Run, Fruit Promotions.Outside health agencies have carried out various awareness raising activities with pupils during the lunch break (mental health, fitness tests, drug, smoking, alcohol)
- Health Focus Day when all of the S1 population take part in a variety of interactive workshops with health agencies.
- Healthy tuck shop the first day back to school in January
- Eat 2 B Fit club
- Fresh fruit and smoothie days subsidised - sponsored by local retailers.

- Smoking cessation pupils groups – organised by the school nurse
- Boozebuster drama presentation and workshops for all S2 pupils.

- Proposed reward scheme in dining halls for “Healthy Choices”
- Royal Navy –“Eat 4 Life” programme for school.
