
At Lumphinnans we held 2 very successful ‘Health Weeks’. These initiative have raised the awareness of staff, pupils, parents and the wider community to lots of health issues and how they can be addressed.
Health Week 1
(Held in April 2005)
Included for pupils: -
- Fire Safety Talks
- Presentation by the pupils about ‘Cool In School’ – a positive behaviour programme.
- Foodlab
And for teachers and parents
- Healthy Eating
- Glucose and Cholesterol Checks by the Community Nurses
- Treatments from an osteopath, masseur and aromatherapist.
Our Active Schools’ Co-ordinator has also been involved in these initiatives. In Health Week 2 (held in September 2005) he did skipping, playground games and Class Moves. He has continued these activities throughout the year. Health Week 2 included: -
- Yoga
- Anti Bullying Day – This was sponsored by local businesses.
- Fitness Instruction – a fitness instructor from Bannatyne’s Health Club gave the whole school instruction in body – combat. Very popular!
