Health and Wellbeing Accreditation Framework
All schools continue on their journey through the Health and Wellbeing Accreditation Framework.
To date the number of schools who have completed each Phase are:
The School Health & Wellbeing Coordinators have been provided with contact details of their colleagues from across Fife. This enables staff to share practice and support each other when undertaken the quality assurance aspect (Card Game) of the framework. If you have not received the list and you are a coordinator please contact me and the email address at the end of this article.
Curriculum for Excellence: Health and Wellbeing
Support Materials:
Materials supporting the health and wellbeing experiences and outcomes are available on the www.healthpromotingschoolsfife.co.uk website and can be accessed through the curriculum for excellence folder.
The material in this section provides examples of progression, cross curricular links and partnership working that may help education staff and all contributing services in taking forward the health and wellbeing outcomes.
The suggestions provided to support the outcomes are not prescriptive and can be changed to meet the needs of pupils/school The folder also contains Reflection Tools for use by all staff.
Curriculum for Excellence: Health and Wellbeing Milestones:
Short life working groups are in the process of developing Milestones for the 6 organisers in Curriculum for Excellence: health and wellbeing experiences and outcomes. Teaching staff from primary and secondary schools and staff from across other services are involved in this process.
The work undertaken to date will be shared at the Primary School Learning Events that are to be held in May and at Secondary Headteachers meetings.
Probationers Twilight Sessions
There has been two twilight sessions offered to probationers since November 2010 .
The aim of the twilight session was to raise awareness of Fifes Health and Wellbeing Framework within curriculum for excellence, support materials that have been developed to support this and practical examples of how to implement health & wellbeing across the curriculum.
A member of the senior management team from Torbain Primary School and Inverkeithing High School led the sessions.
The sessions were interactive and provide the opportunity for probationers to realise their contribution in taking forward health & wellbeing across Fife.
Policy Development
Health and Wellbing Strategy:
The Education Service has developed a Health and Wellbeing Strategy that provides advice and guidance for education establishments in taking forward Health and Wellbeing across the whole school community.
The purpose of the strategy will be to take forward the values, purposes and principles in Curriculum for Excellence: Health and Wellbeing and to continue with taking forward health promotion activities within the whole school community. Partnership working is core to this strategy. The Strategy will be sent electronically to schools establishments
Managing Substance Misuse Incidents Policy & Guidance:
Educations Managing Drug Incidents Policy and Guidance has been reviewed and amended in line with local and national policy and legislation. The amended policy and guidance document will be sent electronically to schools .
Curriculum for Excellence: health and wellbeing, Relationships, sexual health and parenthood education policy.
Educations Effective Sex and Relationships: Education in Schools Policy and Guidance has been reviewed and amended in line with local and national policy and legislation. The amended policy and guidance document will be sent electronically to schools.
Articles Wanted
