Put the Ooo back into food 2008
St Brides Primary School was one of the schools from Fife that took part in the British Food Fortnight from 20th Sept - 5th October.
Schools were invited to take part in teaching ‘young people about the diverse and delicious range of foods available, the pleasures and health benefits of eating quality, fresh, seasonal and regional produce’. (British Food Fortnight)
St Brides Primary 7 Pupils chose to visit their local allotment in Cowbenbeath. There they met local people who helped them collect the vegetables they would need to make their very own soup. The pupils have used photographs to tell their own story.
At the allotment we met a farmer called Rab who has had an allotment for over 30 years.
Everybody was pulling carrots out of the ground except Konal he was holding the turnip.

All of the vegetables were picked and in the bucket.

When the group got back Jason washed some carrots.

After that, Samantha started the onions with dripping eyes.

Danielle is chopping the carrots.

Erin and Chloe were typing up recipes for the soup.

The leek and potato soup is ready.
