Douglas Racey, Chemistry, Waid Academy has contributed a significant number of Inspiration files following his school's purchase of a whole-school site licence. There are files for standard grade, higher and advanced higher which cover 15-18 year olds programme of study in Scottish schools. If you have Inspiration installed click on the three hot links above to go to the Fife Education science site, if not some screen shots of the collection are available plus an explanation of the techniques used. |

There have been few additions to the site in 2006 owing to other work committments. However, a few developments will be added shortly, including, for Chemistry the naming of Hydrocarbons and a whole school approach to using Inspiration in Waid Academy, Anstruther. A Word file summarising the advantages of Inspiration and Kidspiration may be of value to those introducing the applications to colleagues. |

Inspiration version 8 - a major update was showcased at the BETT conference this month. There is a significant number of major enhancements. This website will, as with version 7, endeavour to produce sample files and associated Hints and Tips to encourage teachers and students to use version 8.The first addition is a set of files for history and geography created using the brand new Mind Map option (a must see development!) and reference is made to the new Optimiser tool added to Notes. Other new features such as the excellent Internet Search feature within a revamped Symbol Palette will be covered in the months ahead. | ||

A set of three files on Coastal Processes were added using images from Fife Education's Image Bank. These Inspiration files have hyperlinks to other resources and interactive activities.Other recent additions include files covering Glacial Erosion and Settlements located in the Geography sample file collection | ||

A large collection of Kidspiration and Inspiration files for different curricular areas has been added to the Websites page. They have been posted on the internet by the University of Oregon. | ||

One Fife primary teacher has been working with children from 5 to 11 years as part of her whole-school support role when her class has been covered by a probationery teacher. Frances Sutherland of St. Joseph's Primary, Kelty has introduced Kidspiration to the youngest children and Inspiration to classes in the upper school. A comprehensive collection of Kidspiration files and details of the learning and teaching strategies employed have been included in the Kidspiration site with Inspiration examples to follow in the autumn. One exciting development has been Frances' use of a SmartBoard interactive whiteboard to introduce concept mapping to the children. | ||

A concept web based on the excellent resouces for History teachers at Learning Curve - the web outlet devoted to the National Archives in England is to be found in the History section as well as links to other History websites.A number of pages have been added exploring Learning Styles and Multiple Intelligences. These are based on a booklet prepared by Fife Education staff exploring 'Teaching Able Children'. Many of the statements and illustrations apply to children of all abilities with links to Inspiration files, more of which will be added in future updates. An upgrade to Inspiration has been placed on the company's website. This has been named version 7.6. If you wish to upgrade visit the Inspiration website, but you must be using a computer which has Inspiration installed. The new features include: compatibility with interactive whiteboards to enter information directly. Shape and handwriting recognition make it possible to sketch symbols and links as well as write text directly on whiteboards. | ||

Most of the work this month has been updating and refining existing pages and demonstrating this website on the Tag Learning stand to teachers attending the BETT exhibition at the Olympia conference hall, London. | ||

This What's New page is new to the site. The navigation has been updated and Geography (Rock Cycle) and History (The New Deal in the U.S.A.) sample files added. The Hyperlink tool is covered in detail through a study of three examples. New information on Workshop Resources, a Training CD and Achieving Standards materials now in Online Tutorials. | ||
