Rector
A Warm Welcome from the Headteacher

I am delighted to welcome you to Kirkcaldy High School’s website.

As a school, our aim is to communicate and consult as effectively as possible with a wide range of people, who could be called our ‘customers’.

I therefore hope that the website will be used by a variety of different people:

• Parents and carers
• Prospective parents and carers
• Pupils
• Staff
• Prospective staff
• Supporters of the school
• Visitors to the school
• The local community
• The wider community including friends and partners nationally and internationally

Different forms of communication suit some people better than others or can be more easily accessed at certain times or in certain situations than others. For this reason, we communicate in a variety of ways.
For example here are some of the ways that we communicate and consult, sometimes with a visual and/or audio input:

Oral:
• phone-calls
• meetings, including parental consultation meetings
• attendance of different local community groups e.g. community council
• small group discussions
• special events e.g. prize-giving
• pupil house assemblies
• house forums for pupils
• S6 pupil council
Written:
• letters
• email
• questionnaires
• electronic notice board in school
• newsletters
• prospectus
• pupil planners
• newspaper articles
The website is another means of interactive communication and consultation. In the ICT world that we live in, it is a vitally important source of information.

The website gives you:
• a means of consultation and dialogue
• a way of putting forward ideas and suggestions to further improve the school
• a way of supporting and helping either your young person/pupil or our school generally
• information about our school and the community that it serves
• information about different associations, organizations and clubs that parents, staff, former pupils and former staff can join and participate in
• News, including relevant dates and events, that is regularly up-dated

I do hope that you enjoy our website. As a school we are committed to continuous improvement. We value feedback. Please let us know what you think of the website and any suggestions for improvement. I look forward to hearing from you.
