There are 5 Core Skills: Communication, Numeracy, Information Technology, Problem Solving and Working with Others. Each Core Skill can be assessed at each of the 5 levels Access 2, Access 3, Intermediate 1, Intermediate 2 and Higher. There are no external exams for Core Skills at any level, only internally assessed units that can be externally moderated by SQA.
