The study of RMPS at Woodmill High School explores the experience of humanity in its search for
meaning, value and purpose in life. The religions of the world are a classic expression of that
search.
At Woodmill High School we study Religious, Moral and Philosophical Studies because:
- It helps us to understand the people around us
- It gives us an opportunity to express our own opinions
- It gives us an opportunity to explore our own beliefs
The department comprises of 2 classrooms, located next to each other.
There are two full time teachers in the RMPS department, including a head of department.
Pupils in S1 receive two periods per week of Core RMPS
Pupils in S2, S3 and S4 receive one period per week of Core RMPS
Standard Grade Religious Studies students are allocated three periods per week
Higher and Intermediate RMPS students are allocated six periods per week.
Class sizes in RMPS department vary:
- Core RMPS S1, S2, S3 and S4 – classes of around 30
- Standard Grade Religious Studies – classes of around 10-20
- Higher and Intermediate RMPS – classes of around 15-20
Higher and Intermediate 2 RMPS is run as a composite class.
